Free Online Blackjack Rules:

Whether you play free blackjack or real-money blackjack, the rules are straightforward: you face the dealer and must get the best hand total without exceeding 21. Cards 2–9 are worth their face value, face cards are worth 10, and Aces are worth 1 or 11. A natural Blackjack requires an Ace plus a 10-value card in just two cards. If you hit 21 with more than two cards, it’s not a Blackjack.

Online blackjack doesn’t differ much from the live version, except the dealer is virtual. It’s perfect for training because helpful indicators (like your current total) are often shown. You receive two cards; the dealer gets one upcard and one facedown. You decide whether to hit or stand. If you bust (over 21), you lose. Beat the dealer’s total and you win. The dealer usually hits on 16 and stands on 17. Ties (pushes) return your bet. A 2-card Blackjack beats any 21 made with more than two cards.

So far so good: draw cards and try to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. Four special moves are worth knowing:

If the dealer’s upcard is an Ace, insurance may be offered. You can wager up to half your original bet that the dealer has a 10-value card for a natural Blackjack. If the dealer does have Blackjack, you lose your main bet but win the insurance, net neutral. If the dealer doesn’t, you lose the insurance bet. Without card counting, insurance generally favors the house.

If you’re dealt a pair, you can split it into two hands by placing an additional bet equal to your original. You then play two hands independently. Note: a natural Blackjack is typically not possible on split hands.

After receiving your first two cards, you may choose to double your bet and draw exactly one more card.

After seeing your first two cards and the dealer’s upcard, you can fold the hand and forfeit half of your bet if you believe your chances are poor.
